When your special day has taken place, you’ll find that your wedding photos become one of your most treasured possessions, a precious keepsake that takes you back to one of the most important days of your life. If you’re looking for the right photographer for your wedding at Oxnead Hall, we hope these key questions might help you choose.
Do you like their style?
Photography is an art form and every photographer has their own style. Before you arrange to meet with a potential photographer, be sure to look through their website where you’ll see examples of their work. If you like what you see, it might be time to arrange a meeting.
Is the price right?
It’s important to set aside a budget for every element of your wedding day (and to try to stick to it as much as possible!). Let potential suppliers know what your budget is early on in your conversations, enabling them to tell you what they can provide within that amount. Bear in mind that if the cost is more than you had anticipated, there are often ways to lower it. You might, for example, shorten the length of time that your photographer is at your wedding.
Have you got a good rapport?
It’s crucial that you get on well with your photographer. They will be spending time with you on your wedding day and you need to feel comfortable and relaxed in their presence. You should be reassured that the photographer understands and appreciates exactly what you’re looking for from your wedding photography.
If your photographer works as part of a team, be sure to ask them whether they will be taking your photos or whether it could be someone else. You want to know exactly who will hold the camera on the day.
Have they worked at Oxnead Hall before?
It can be a good idea to work with a photographer who knows the venue and is familiar with all the fabulous photo opportunities and backdrops, from stunning indoor spaces to our magnificent gardens and Orangery. Of course, our friendly Events Team will be more than happy to assist with a list of suppliers. If you love the work of a photographer who hasn’t been to Oxnead Hall before, they should arrange to walk around the venue with you and discuss the order of your day and your requirements.
Have you read the small print?
As with all suppliers, make sure you know every detail before you book. When it comes to photographers, you’re likely to ask how much additional prints or digital images will cost, whether images are edited, how long you might expect to wait before you can see your photographs and whether they have backup equipment or insurance. When you’re happy with everything, your photographer should send you a contract.
